Time To Stop Corporate Welfare
56I heard a political message from Rick Scott who wants to be Governor of Florida. He says if we cut taxes to big business, it will create jobs. All I can say is just how stupid does he think we are?
Fixing big business is not now, nor has it ever been the way to fix our problems. Big business IS the problem. Some companies have gotten SO big that at the upper echelons, they are out of touch with the general population. They make up for that deficit by buying lobbyists and elections. Anyone who thinks a problem caused by greed can be fixed by throwing money at it is a moron and certainly not anyone I would consider voting for.
A big part of this country's problems could be eased by supporting the small business person. Small business is becoming extinct and the cause of that is big business. A case in point is Walmart. They forced out thousands of small businesses by undercutting prices and now they are gradually raising their prices. Granted, that is good business but if it creates a monopoly, (which I can see happening with Walmart) it defeats the whole concept of Capitalism. When we lose the small businesses, we don't just lose jobs, we lose our sense of community and our economy becomes more out of balance.
So many of our jobs have been sent overseas by big business, yet they STILL get tax breaks. Its time to start levying taxes on big business commensurate with the number of jobs that aren't being done by Americans and are now being done overseas. Next, lets look at how a company does business. Do they reward incompetence or breaches of contract by paying HUGE sums of severance? They don't deserve help from us. They are too stupid stay in business. Rewarding incompetent or unethical executives is downright stupid and not fiscally responsible. No more government handouts to any company that engages in this practice. They are more than welcome to do as they please but if they want help from the American people or want tax breaks, stop throwing money at morons who have been proven to have done something to deserve being terminated.
As for the big banks, we have heard two local stories of people who made refinancing arrangements only to have their homes auctioned off anyway by B of A. Their response? "OOPS we GOOFED". Not acceptable. Do we really think its only happening locally and that its not happening all over? If it happened to 2 people here in Southwest Florida, imagine the rest of the country. I wouldn't doubt there are hundreds if not thousands of "oopsies" out there. I say they should be forced to purchase the home back at a 10 percent profit to the purchaser and THEN finance at that purchase price and let that 10% be their fine for their "oopsie" OR better yet, be forced to purchase the home and GIVE it to the people they screwed over. That would put an end to the oopsies REAL fast.
Now, how about farm subsidies? These were originally intended to help out small farmers while in the process making the products of farms more profitable. Who profited? Big business did. It's time to put an end to farm subsidies for anyone earning more than a certain amount per year. Maybe a cap of $100,000 net. Over that, no subsidy. Or base it on profit vs acreage.
In any case, lets stop paying welfare to big business. Its their job to make money and the smartest way to do it is fiscal responsibility, and it isn't the job of the government to help them do so by giving tax breaks or handouts to them.

AR lives in his own little world where the poor should just get rich or die trying. He was 'poor' once, had a gambling prob and so on, he's been through it and survived but unfortunately it did very little to improve his attitude or increase his compassion, which is what the American people and our governing entities are going to have to find to fix our country's problems! God Bless American Romance!

Sooooo..........I guess you think the poor will jump start this economy? According to your hub we are morons, but please tell me what poor person I can call to get a job? I thought business was moving overseas to escape regulation that cut into their profits? I thought they left our borders to escape the brutal raping by unions? Reagan cut taxes on big business and had the largest sustained growth in the economy than any other president! ........Business (this is what liberals refer to as the rich) are the ones who keep this country moving, so I would think you would want to see your country grow and prosper, not fail? whos the moron?
